Dr. Katherine Simpson graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Veterinary Science with Distinction in 2010. During her veterinary studies, she was also awarded a First-Class Honours intercalated degree in Veterinary Pathology from the Royal Veterinary College in London.

After graduation, Dr. Katherine completed a one-year rotating internship at a multidisciplinary referral centre in the UK. She has subsequently worked in both primary care and referral hospitals in the UK and Hong Kong. Since 2016, she has worked purely in emergency and critical care (ECC) practice, including an ECC internship during which she developed her skills in this field. In 2019, she obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal ECC with Distinction.

Dr. Katherine enjoys teaching and mentoring, and whilst practising in the UK she presented ECC lectures both locally and nationally, and coached emergency veterinarians enrolled on her hospital's clinical training programmes. Over the course of her career, she has published several papers in peer-reviewed veterinary journals. She has presented her clinical abstracts at international veterinary conferences, and she was awarded the John Presthus Award by the European College of Veterinary Neurology for the best oral abstract presentation.

Dr. Katherine is currently studying towards a distance education course in Small Animal Medicine with the University of Sydney. Her clinical interests include immune-mediated diseases, transfusion medicine, medical neurology, and analgesia. Due to her frequent travels, she does not yet care for any pets of her own, but she hopes one day to adopt a rescue dog or two. In her spare time she enjoys travelling the world, hiking, photography, and meditation.
