As a child, Dr Katherine was raised up in a family with different kinds of small animals. Due to her love for her childhood companions, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2008. In some of the attachments during her veterinary studies, Katherine was surprised to have seen cases that showed promising improvement with alternative therapies. Since then she had developed interest in alternative treatments in addition to conservative veterinary medicine. Within 2 years of graduation, Katherine became certified acupuncturist and has practised acupuncture since. Having seen what acupuncture can do for the animals, she hoped patients in her hands can benefit from combination of both Western and Chinese Medicine. So she was determined and became a certified Chinese herbalist couple of years later. Over the years, she had also further her studies in small animal internal medicine and nutrition. She is also dedicated to become certified animal physiotherapist in the near future. Katherine always bears this in her mind, 'treat any animal like your own pet', and she thinks this is what keeps her motivated throughout the years. At home, Katherine has a responsive cat called Yau Yau, and a friendly chinchilla named Chau Chau. She has recently adopted a hyperactive dog that needs extra attention, just like her twin boys. Katherine likes shopping, swimming and going out with her little boys in her spare time.

BSc (Agr) Animal Science
加拿大安大略省農業學院動物科學學士
DVM (Ontario Veterinary College, Canada)
加拿大安大略省獸醫學院獸醫科學士
MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine)
澳洲及紐西蘭獸醫科學院院士 (小動物內科)及紐西蘭獸醫科學院院士(小動物內科)
Dr. Carmen Chui developed a keen interest in biology and chemistry during her time in high school. While many of her peers were considering pursuing human medicine, she pondered the possibility of applying these subjects in a different field. After volunteering at various organizations in Hong Kong, she became captivated by the diverse range of animals that veterinarians work with. This fascination led her to embark on the journey of pursuing veterinary medicine.
Although Dr. Chui currently does not have any pets of her own due to her frequent travels and busy schedule, she aspires to one day have a Sphynx cat and a ShihTzu.
Throughout her veterinary career, Dr. Chui has been fortunate to have had wonderful mentors who have guided her at different stages. Additionally, she now serves as a mentor to junior clinicians at the clinic, where they exchange ideas, discuss cases, and learn from each other's perspectives. Dr. Chui also collaborates with department heads in nursing, technician, and customer service to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic.
Upon completing her Fear Free certification, Dr. Chui gained valuable insights into various hands-on techniques to alleviate pets' anxiety in the hospital environment. These techniques include positive reinforcement with high-value treats, towel restraint, the use of muzzles, pheromones, and pre-visit medication to reduce stress before pets even enter the clinic.
Dr. Chui's area of expertise lies in small animal internal medicine, where she deals with various organ systems of animals' bodies. She acknowledges that diagnosing and treating issues in pets can sometimes be akin to detective work, requiring patience and thorough investigation. Despite the challenges, Dr. Chui finds fulfillment in advocating for animals, who cannot speak for themselves, and cherishes the special bond between pets and their owners that she witnesses in her privileged position as a veterinarian.
